It would cover you if you had to be airlifted off a mountain because of a skiing or hiking accident, or if you had to halt for a stretched period of time in a foreign hospital. Insurers would also supply cover if you got gravely sick or were injured and needed to be flown home. A number of commercial airlines require very sick passengers to fly on a stretcher with a doctor. Typically this means that you may have to purchase 10 or more seats on a plane at a possible pot cost of over $10,000.
Before purchasing this kind of coverage, make sure with your own health insurance carrier. Find out what kind of coverage you contain when traveling overseas and if there are any limitations. Also, ask if the policy will compensate to fly you home or to a country with first-rate medical care.
